Could not keep deal w germany, germany attacks. Belgrade falls, king/govt flee to exile in london. But, startling considering serbian army"s outstanding performance in wwi. Political atmosphere much more united in wwi. Poor distribution of forces due to poli circumstances. Tho, in the long run, yugoslav invasion may hav cost hitler the war. Warned stalin that ussr-germany collaboration was over, gave time to prepare. Beginning of 4 yrs of unparalleled violence in yugoslavia. Slovenia partitioned btwn germany/italy, ne to hungary.
