Warime mobilizaion: economic, poliical, cultural, government, gender roles, labor system. Strengthening of federal government and execuive: more power to president, role of government increasing, regulaing economy, social welfare of dependents. Imagined certain people as dependent on the federal government. Idea of dependency on the government: naional development and infrastructure. New deal changing geography and landscaping, new dams, infrastructures, parks. Many groups achieved larger poliical voice: middleclass consumers. Idea that americans deserved a certain standard of living: farm owners, european ethnics . By 1930s, these in-between people had achieved a certain level of purchase, and was considered a certain ethnic americanizaion: unskilled workers. Over 18, achieved ciizenship status, allowed paricipaion of programs. But also increasing marginalizaion of some groups: some rendered permanent dependence, did not it into the plan of the new deal. Compeiion of class was ierce, especially in the southwest.
