Document Summary

Amazing effort of war propaganda to make the home front. Tried to mobilize people in all different ways, through propaganda posters. 1917, on the home front there were reactions. Adherence to the war was based on class. War propaganda worked far better on the upper class rather than the working class. 100,000 workers were on strike in france asking for the end of the war. The veterans come back home after the war and had a major impact on the society. In the 1920s you couldn"t walk around without seeing someone on the street that is crippled because of ww1. They felt that they were eventually betrayed and had not obtained recognition, and found out that there were people who hadn"t fought. Green eye was an association of veterans and immigrant groups were targeted because (especially. Germans in britain), they were identified as solely being a german (the enemy).
