Not as influential as the mishna though organized in a similar fashion. Based on earlier collections by r. akiva and r. meir. *prof explains the verses and attempts to rationalize them. More than half the text is devoted to laws that can"t be observed. Reflects the opinions of several generations of rabbis. The book is never finished there are always more questions and other ways to interpret texts. Deals with theological and ethical topics and serves to legitimiaze the mishna. Gemilut hasadim - not entirely sure what it means but it is very important. Yocodah says this is the path to atonement after the temple (maybe loving kindness or good deeds) Daniel is said to have performed gemilut hasadim. Outfit the bride, give money to the poor, accompany the dead (prepare the body) and pray three times daily. Says the world stands on three things/ words (not pillars) Being learned is the reason you were created.
