Debates as to whether jesus/christ was a god, a man, a prophet. Multiple stories, but always with jesus as the central figure, teacher, philosopher. Put to death for stirring up trouble in the provinces. Christ represents political rebellion to the roman provincial authorities. Judaism in the 1st cent bc-1st cent ad is similar to roman religion. Temple worship, offer sacrifices to the one god in order to receive favours. Rise of a strand of judaism (rubidic, where the rabbi is central) More about the teachings than the sacrifices.
