Water has a smaller albedo range than fresh snow and ice. The effect of angle on reflection and absorption of radiation by water. Low latitude: stronger angle of radiation and a large portion being absorbed and very little reflected. Sensible heat is the warming of earth"s surface. Radiative loss is dependent on temperature of the body. Latent heat: uptake and release of energy as water changes phase from solid to liquid gas. Conduction: molecule to molecule diffusion of sensible heat through a substance. Convection sensible heat energy is transported by motions of a fluid. Latent heat: heat energy released or absorbed during the transition from one phase to another. As we increase cloud cover, we increase ability of clouds to reflect energy back into space and has a more cooling effect. As we increase cloud cover, we increase the ability of the atmosphere to warm the earth"s surface since they can produce water which is a greenhouse gas.
