Less precise than ma storage, not a substitute but good supplement to ca. Ca3ma inside the package is achieved and maintained by selective diffusion of oxygen (in) and carbon dioxide (out). At equilibrium balance between produce respiration and package permeation. Temperature management is critical because respiration and permeability is t dependent. Aim is to reduce oxygen level and elevate carbon dioxide level, the rest is nitrogen, a filler. Active process: gas flush, for a quick control of respiration, quick control of ethylene and vacuum to remove toxic gases. Passive process: produce respiration, is slow and results in some quality loss. Through selective permeability, film type depends on needs and product.
