Females may be even less inclined to participate in a sport built around idea of proving who is the bigger & better man. *most hs = not achieved gender equity in sport participation [also disability] Recommendations for change - 3 - limited participation access. *many not interested in power & performance sports: provide a weight/height class option. *where size & strength not crucial for success to participate in sports without fear of getting run-over: promote smaller & shorter adolescents. *changes participation access = has shown success in research trials. Ex: students w/ disability = largely ignored by some sport programs so should opportunity for them. Ex: gender equity = could be achieved if have gender-mixed sports. University sports are a normal but not highly significant part of student life. *very different from us that focus on university sport.
