Apollo: games in honour of apollo called the pythian games. Is attractive, so has countless love stories with both men and women. Daphne: one of the most famous stories about an affair with apollo. Told by ovid: apollo mocks eros, making fun of his bow and arrow and how it is for children and not men, of course eros is insulted, wants revenge. Apollo"s attraction: her father turns her into a tree in order to let her escape apollo, apollo decides to use his power to grant the tree immortality, and protects it from beasts and even other plants. Dionysus: roman = bacchus, a strange god, cult is very widespread, god of the grape harvest, winemaking, wine, ritual madness, intoxicated ecstasy, and theatre. Tells semele that she should ask zeus to reveal his true form: semele asks to see zeus"s true godly form, and zeus reluctantly agrees, killing her.
