Montesquieu believed that all people were diferent and that laws meant for one people are unsuitable for another people. Believed in relaivism, that you can"t judge an act outside of the societal context in which it took place. Much of his context was reliant on climate. Social and poliical revoluions of the late 18th century in america and france came around and began to get rid of the feudal aristocracy. Lead to a sharp change in ideology in which laws could emanate from the populous rather than be handed down to them by authority igures. People can be the architects of the socieies in which they live .
