Noam chomsky proposal: you can learn language, but the stimulus response relationship is wrong. 2 problems: patients suffering from this genetic disorder have normal cognition, normal vision, normal hearing, normal touch, and no sense of pain, you cannot understand subjective experience, these individuals live short lives and tend to mutilate themselves. Neural correlates of consciousness (ncc): what goes on in the brain during conscious experiences. Not about solving the hard problem and is subdivided into 2 different questions: content-specific: what goes on in the brain during a specific. Experience: what goes on in the brain that makes you conscious as a whole (i. e. : when i am aware, how is it different than dreamless (non-rem) sleep?) When the brain is confronted with 2 unrelated objects, it will selectively decide to activate one and suppress the other in the visual field.
