Where is e = o when you have a positive and negative charge in. Falling object in the presence of air friction or drag. The drag force is proportional to the speed of the object. Fd = nv where n is the drag coefficient. As the object falls its speed and hence fd increased. Net force on the object is zero and the object falls with constant speed, called terminal speed. Charged objects, such as ions in solution, move in the presence of an electric field. The electric force is opposed by the drag force. The drag coefficient n, is proportional to the size of the ion. For terminal speed: nvt = qe and vt = qe/n. Unlike objects falling in gravitational fields, ions reach vt in a very short time. Work energy theorem: change in potential energy = work done.
