Na hco3 + hcl = water + sodium chloride + co2. Fast cheap: acid rebound; if frequently taken or excessively taken = produce more acid (la chauffeur principle?) Systemic alkalosis: b) alkaseltzer (sodium bicarbonate + asa) Baking soda is only nahco3 but baking powder contains nahco3 + dry acid. Hcl + caco3 -> cacl2 + water + co2. Pros: good source of calcium for people with osteoporosis.
