Document Summary

Cohort study study a group of ppl over a long period of time what factors associated with the appearance of a specific condition. At onset of study, no indication of any condition. Prospective study te(cid:374)d to (cid:271)e st(cid:396)o(cid:374)ge(cid:396) (cid:271)e(cid:374)efit do(cid:374)"t ha(cid:448)e to (cid:449)o(cid:396)(cid:396)(cid:455) a(cid:271)out (cid:396)e(cid:272)all of ppl. Ie epic study increased f+v intake has minimal effect on ca rates. Intervention study (to prove causation) assignment of subjects controlled by investigator. Interventional controlled study: double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study = gold standard. Placebo response if ppl believe something is effective, they will feel better. Blind divide group to 2 and one takes real, other is placebo; no one knows who is taking what. Randomized no confounding factor: meta-analysis = looks at a number of studies (must be same type, ie only epidemiological studies or only intervention studies) and pools the studies together to get an overall result. Atomic number = number of protons (top left)
