Document Summary
Biol 200 - week 1 sep. 8 2017. Intron sequence gets spliced and removed from rna. *process 1&2 takes place in the nucleus: translation. Ribosomes are recruited by messenger rnas & are responsible for scanning from the 5" end to the 3" end. New strands of dna can be replicated by dntps. Entire division cycle takes about 24 hrs: mitosis and cytokenesis. Chromosomes only seen in mitosis: g1 phase. Cells are diploid and genes do their thing according to their type. Cell growth occurs all the time except for meiosis. Cells can remain in g1 for a long time (resting state) Cells enter g0 if external signals say division is not necessary or safe: s phase. Dna replication takes place if external conditions allow for it: g2 phase. Contains all the info to build cells & tissues. Process of using information from transcription to create a protein with speci c amino acid.
