Document Summary

The cycle inishes the oxidaion of glucose by convering the 2c compound acetyl coa into. C2 is added in the irst reacion, and then co2 splits of in the following oxidaions. *the reacions catalyzed by dehydrogenases are redox reacions. They result in reduced electron carriers (fadh2 and nadh) and one guanine triphosphate (purine) *only part of the cycle that is not a redox. Fad is then used, as oxidaion does not result in enough energy to reduce nad. Etc is then needed to get rid of the nadh, b/c cells need more atp than nadh and the cell needs nad+ for the citric acid cycle to coninue. The etc is a series of coupled redoxes that transport proteins across the mitochondrial membrane into intermembrane space. The nadh does not deliver electrons to o2 b/c the reacions need to be catalyzed and nadh can only bind to the irst enzyme complex of the etc.
