MTST-224 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Proximal Radioulnar Articulation, Anatomical Terms Of Location, Head Of Radius
Document Summary
Movement at joint and mvmnt at lever are in the same direction flex/ext at humeroulnar joint are not pure movements. Flexion is accompanied w varus angulations and lateral sliding of the ulna. Ext is accompanied w valgus angulation and medial glide. Resting position 70 degrees flexion, supination 10 degrees. Annular ligament - funnel shaped, resists downward movement of radius, when forearm is supporting heavy weight. Close packed: elbow flex 90, forearm supinated 5. Capsular: full rom pain at extremes of rotation. Arm is strapped to table, hand landmarks to grab ulna, other hand applies op for distraction. One hand stabilizes humerus and other hand applies distraction. Distraction, and then slightly scoop to clear humerus. Stabilize distal humerus, mobilize proximal radius (hand outside, fingers underneath, thumb on top)) Distract, and push medial to do medial glide. Stabilize distal humerus, mobilize (hand inside, fingers underneath, thumb on top. ) Tip: place hand between your arm and body.
