Renaissance is the french word for rebirth of something classical, like culture, art, writing style and values: the classical style was dominated by pagans which weren"t liked by the catholic. It was unacceptable by the catholic church even though the dominated style was of value: classical civilization of greeks and romans came and then the fall of rome in the. They began excluding and throwing out feudal representatives: this is the rise of the city commune. City commune: to rule collectively: a struggle between the patricians vs the popolo (the people) where the middle class, craftsman and less wealthy merchants wanted in on the political action and wanted to rule. Oligarchy: the rule of the few, the wealthy patricians and democracy is the rule of the many. In some places, like milan, there was a duke (duchy) or a prince, and was accepted by the citizens of milan to rule.
