Deng was exiled, worked in tractor factory, saved by mao from execution. Four modernizations: agriculture, industry, education, and national defence. Open door policy, cooperation with the west. Changes in agriculture: farm income doubled. (cid:498)mao gave us liberation, deng gave us food. (cid:499) (cid:498)to get rich is glorious. (cid:499) (cid:498)feudal socialism(cid:499): nepotism and corruption. May the state visit of mikhail gorbachev. 1 june 5 june: army moves in to control beijing.
