Marriage have a socially approved sexual and economic union, usually between a man and women. Assumed by the couple and others to be more permeant. There are rights and obligations between the spouses and their future children. Socially approved sexual union, the couple doesn"t have to hide the sexual nature of their relationship. All societies practice female-male marriage and have defined it. Can be assumed the customs is adaptive. Each suggestion as to why marriage is universal say it solves problems found in all societies. How to share the products of gender division of labour, care for infants and minimize sexual competition: division of labour . Male and females in every society preform different economic activities. This has been cited as a reason for marriage multiple times. Society needs some mechanism by which men and women can share the products of their labour. Marriage isn"t the only way for male and females to share their products though.
