Document Summary

Genetic contributions to motivated behaviour part two. The stimulus required to activate a genetically programmed behaviour (fap) Effective stimulus may be only part: e. g. Lorenz found that newly hatched ducklings would imprint on him if he was their first experience after hatching: thought of it as a type of learning, after 20h of exposure, imprinting will occur. If after the 20h the ducklings were exposed to a female mallard they will imprint on their species: will not reverse from mallard to human, showed no difference in growth. If wild ducks (16h post-birth) are captured and exposed to humans, they will still show fear 2 months later: genetically predisposed to species specific (prepared) behaviour, seems to be facilitated by clucking from the mother during incubation. Innate behaviour to explain motivation: dog chews on shoes: Human scent (alpha: dog attacks other dogs. Human reactions with other dogs: dog disregards commands. Reflex and fap"s are unlearned behaviour: reflexes can be modified through experience.
