Low velocity from a height
-passive stain
-very round, slight satellite
Low velocity, slight texture
-passive stain
-dropped from 10 cm
-more scalloping then flat surface
Low velocity, high texture
-more scalloping, finger like projections
Medium velocity stains (castoff from upswing of hammer)
-satellites/drops fly off as hammer is raised
-the droplets are spherical in shape
How many blows?
-7 tracks means 8 blows
High velocity stains
-through a sponge soaked with blood
-back and forward spatter occurs in high amounts
-when bullet goes through tissue it will create a cavity inside the tissue, that will after
come back (shrink back) into the skin due to the pressure
Expirated stains
-bubbles in the pattern due to air being blown out with the blood
Directionality
-spines are pointing in the direction of travel
-circular shape to the stains, therefore walking
-if they were running it would be more elliptical
