Document Summary

The impact of regional location factors on job creation, job destruction and employment growth in manufacturing1. Krumm and strotmann empirically analyze the impact of regional location factors (population density, cost of production, human capital endowment, etc) have on net regional manufacturing employment growth in baden- Wuerttemberg, germany from 1980-1999 and whether they are driven by gross component job creation and/or job destruction. The results show low cost of production mitigate job destruction; high regional r&d and human capital endowment enhance employment growth; regions defined by small firms face higher employment growth than larger firm defined regions. Spatial distribution and regional factors are basic considerations for a firm"s location and the potential the firm has in reaching success and the employment development of the firm. I would like to thank my mother for financial support and my father for inspiration. Journal article review #1 leads to negative regional employment growth.
