Document Summary

Hormones are becoming a more widely studied topic as more researchers begin to understand the fundamental importance they have in our bodily functions. Hormones are essentially chemical messengers that control and coordinate activities throughout the human body. If we look at serotonin, having the ability to understand the impacts it has on humans is a crucial step in undertaking behavioral and mental health. There are three main reasons for this, one being that serotonin has a strong impact on our levels of depression. Secondly, serotonin helps to regulate major functions in humans and is used constantly by our bodies. Thirdly, loss of serotonin levels leads to cognitive decline. Thus, serotonin is increasingly shown as having a direct correlation with the mind, behaviors, and emotions of individuals. Depression has become a very prominent issue with many people around the world struggling to overcome it. One of the less-known causes of depression is a hormone called serotonin.
