Document Summary

Cardiac output is the amount of blood pumped from the heart from either the right side or left side per minute. Both right and left ventricle have the same cardiac output therefore systematic and pulmonary circuit have the same blood flow. Stoke volume is the amount of blood that the heart can pump per minute. As the work load increase, the heart pumps blood faster sending the blood to the muscle that is doing most of the work. Athletes are trained people and they have a higher stoke volume therefore they can pump out more blood with less heart beats. Systole is when the ventricles are contracting the blood out of their chamber. Diastole is when the heart is relaxing this occurs between heart beat. The volume of blood in each of the ventricle at the end of diastole normally around 120 ml in an untrained person.
