Under the french and uk we had a system for locking people who were a threat and convicted. Society is judged by the state of its prison . Slowly we start to look at restorative justice and reintegration. How we classify offenders (violent or not) What happens when we have a transgender or non- binary gendered person. Public safety canada (department of homeland security. If the offender has a sentence of 2 or more years, they go to csc. 2 years less a day they go to mcscs. They are in charge of housing these people, safeguarding the public, safeguarding the offenders, working on rehabilitation and reintegration. Only involved after a sentence is handed down for a guilty verdict. Intake assessment, threat assessment, initial placement, rehabilitation plan/path. They will consider the situation with regards to family, friends, police, courts. The risk/threat this person poses may change over time. They are trying to help the offender become law-abiding citizens.
