Community health nursing practice describes the work of nurse who work in the community. Chns partner with people (individual, families, communities, and populations) in various settings, such as home, schools, workplaces, streets, shelters, churches, community health centers, outpost nursing station etc. Chns combines nursing theory/knowledge, social science, and public health sciences. Collaborate with clients, community members, agencies, sectors of a community. Develop honest relationships, mutual respect, valuing diversity: -provide knowledge to clients ( population, community etc) Re health issues, resources, how to make decisions about health issues: -effective communication needed to collaborate, enable, advocate. May use negotiation and mediation to foster communication: coordinate activities, resources, access to resources and care to promote client health, -care to protect, promote health and prevent injury and illness. Home health nurses provide care in management of illness, and supporting self care: enables clients to increase control over and to improve, their health.
