FAS 353 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Pantone
Document Summary
The process of controlling the outcome of a colour, from the initial concept (a chip, swatch, yarn, or sample) to the final production output, in a way that is acceptable to the consumer. Every colour that is used in solid, yarn-dyed, or patterned fabric must be included in the seasonal colour story. Each size and colour in which a style is offered represents a stock-keeping unit (sku) The more skus, the more impact colour has on sourcing and buying decisions. The colour range will be influenced by: how the line is merchandised, the number of deliveries, the fashion and price-point level of the line, the characteristics of the target market. Separates: item-driven lines purchased as an individual piece rather than a coordinated outfit. The range of colours used in one season depends on: the customer"s gender, the retailer"s anticipated sales volumes.
