Gilgamesh is the son of a goddess and a mortal king, ninsun and lugalbanda. Gilgamesh likes to show off and is often challenging the men of uruk, embarrassing them and making it difficult for the women of gilgamesh to find suitable husbands. The gods create a man named enkidu. He is placed in the forest where he annoys a trapper by taking the animals from his traps. In turn, the father sends him to gilgamesh. Gilgamesh has dreams about enkidu. (cid:862)the meaning of the dream is this. The father of the gods has given you kingship, such is your destiny, everlasting life is not your destiny. Because of this do not be sad at heart, do not be grieved or oppressed. He has given you power to bind and to loose, to be the darkness and the light of mankind.
