Document Summary
Development: all the structural and functional changes that an organism undergoes, from conception (where it begins) to death (where it ends). Social cognition can be comprised of structure/domain of function such as: Example: the way lobes and parts of the brain are distributed. Example: what each lobe does/is responsible for. Structures: organs in the body (e. g. , brain, limbs, bones, skin, etc); cognitive systems. Structure and function develop overtime, as well they influence each other to help development. Development requires an open system in which irreversible changes in organization can occur as a result of relations among elements within the system, and as a result of transactions between the system and its surrounding environment. Open systems: exchange both matter and energy with the environment. Closed systems: energy from the environment enters and endogenous energy escapes, but there is no exchange of matter. Isolated systems: do not interact with the environment.
