Affective disorders: depressive disorders, bipolar and related disorders. *though this may been feelings almost of the everyday; to be symptoms of depression they have to disable the person on doing his/her everyday activities. *it was discovered that blood pressure medicine, which would decrease serotonin or/and norepinephrine levels would cause as a side effect, depression symptoms. Gene sampled from all participants at age 26 and then assessed the participants if they have any depressive symptoms. And also questioner about any stressed/depressive times or experiences (if any) between the ages of 21 and 26. *overal this is a good demonstration of interaction between environment and genes, when it comes to mental illness. *provoking life events = losing something (like a relationship) *odds ratio = chance of having a major depressive episode. *this part of the brain is involved in many things; but dysfunction of this area leads to depression/depressive symptoms.
