Document Summary

Speaking: is something we tend to take for granted: word production. We produce words very fast, we also have a very large. Is very rapid, we produce 2-3 words/sentence vocabulary, we are selecting from 75,000 100,000 words. Word production involve all components of language. From phonemes all the way up to pragmatics, we need to take into account each level of language with every word that we produce. There is a lot of motor movement involved in articulating words. We gesticulate words, were not only using the motor movements of the mouth, we are also using our hands when we speak. Using our hands is another motor movement we tend to make when using language: sentence production. Sentences have periods of fluency and pauses. We initiate these pauses during periods of planning; it takes a lot of planning to produce a sentence. We need time to figure out what we want to say.
