The brief, acute changes in conscious experience and physiology. These occur generally in response to a personally meaningful situation. An example would be you saying, i am angry right now . Affect is a synonym for emotions in the world of psychology. Basic emotions: emotions that are thought to be felt across cultures in both humans and animals, otherwise, the hard wired emotions. There are 6 in total: anger, disgust, fear. Thursday, february 4, 2016: happiness, sadness, surprise. Self-conscious emotions: these are the emotions that are more closely related to the human function of having a self and being aware of how others receive you. These emotions are carried out based on culture. There are 5 in total: embarrassment, guilt, humiliation, pride, shame. In the form of a circle, divided into 4 parts. On top is high arousal, on the botton there is low arousal.
