Orienting response we learn to change behaviour when something in the stimulus changes. Habituation after something occurs for a while, you stop responding. Associative learning: link made between 2 pieces of different information that weren"t linked to the past. Connection formed between different sources of information. Learned reflex like being careful with the straightening iron cause you got burnt before: triggers an automatic, involuntary response, allows for attaching meaning. Ivan pavlov: nobel prize in physiology/ medicine (1904) digestion research, hypothesis: association between saliva-collection apparatus and food, he found that after sometime, dogs started to salivate even before the food is being presented. When he presented the meat, the dogs started salivating (meat us and salivation ur) When he rung a bell, the dogs didn"t salivate. He rung the bell and presented the meat, so the dog salivated.
