After reading the text, viewing videos, attending labs & participating in lecture, students will: Recall a & p of abdomen, and urinary & reproductive systems. Identify landmarks that guide assessment of abdomen & genitourinary system. Identify & practice questions to use in a regional/focused interview for abdominal & genitourinary system assessment. Explain client preparation for assessment of abdomen & genitourinary system. Describe techniques for abdominal & genitourinary system physical assessment. Consider developmental, psychosocial, cultural & environmental factors during assessment. Describe the order of physical assessment techniques required for abdominal assessment & why different from that of other assessments (inspection, auscultation, percussion, palpation) Identify structures/organs in each of the 4 quadrants. Apply critical thinking while completing a physical assessment of the abdomen & urinary system. Differentiate normal from abnormal findings in abdominal & urinary system physical assessment. Describe common abnormalities in abdominal & genitourinary assessment.
