Grunge music came out of seattle washing state. Social identity to people who don"t feel like they belong. Relate to the issues of the world, the music stems from a broad general frustration. From a sense of confusion and dissatisfaction with the world. When nirvana came onto the scene and introduces what goes on underground to the mainstream audience . Angsty lyrics politics of damage , anger, frustration. There"s a whole subculture etc that goes along with grunge. slang etc. Different ways to behave as to where you fit in. Kurt cobain his life and the way he was involved in the sub culture really sums up the whole thing. He is the main focus of the grunge aspect.
