INTD 1102 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Knowledge
Document Summary
Knowledge is never pure, simple or objective. There is no general, value free and context free knowledge. Knowledge always has context in space as well as time. It changes depending on the time period and the setting. For example: the de nition of a good wife is very different for an african culture vs. a. Western one, and different for a wife in the 20s vs. now. Understanding the concept of situated knowledge is important because we all share a common space and come together but we do not have common knowledge or opinions all the time. Describe as a location which one has no connections with or for any human being. There is no value in this location. These spaces do not invite or encourage people to ll space through the act of being creative. There is no meaning so it is more or less an abstract location. More of a geographic context than anything else.
