BIOL 2020 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Dynamin, Cell Membrane, Muscle Contraction
Document Summary
Biol2020: section 5 cytoskeleton and cell motility. Botox toxin is protease that cuts snare proteins. A vesicles will not bud off of membranes. B coat proteins will not form around vesicles. C vesicles will not fuse with target membranes. If the snares are disabled, vesicles are unable to fuse with plasma membranes. Specifically, with regard to muscle cells, the vesicles need to fuse in order for muscles to contract. The muscle cells are no longer able to contract. In tiny doses, however, it can be used in medicine to relax muscles and for cosmetic purposes. In n-linked glycosylation, the core oligosaccharide will be built upon a lipid called: A dynamin will continue to build up around the vesicle neck and vesicle will fail to bud. B dynamin will fail to form a collar around the vesicle neck and the vesicle will bud off too quickly.
