Chocolate (theobroma cacao) - comes from chocolate owers and fruits. Rubber - comes from the rubber tree (hevea brasiliensis), native from brazil, vulcanized and makes rubber which is a signi cant polymer; usually mixed with synthetic rubber. Fruits of cotton have a signi cant amount of cellulose which is also a polymer. Primary source of many drugs: plant secondary compounds. Not necessary for metabolism, growth or development. Plant: bark of cinchona tree (cinchona pubescens) Natural range: south america, now widely introduced worldwide. Treated diseases like malaria from 1650"s in europe. Also treated conditions like anemia, muscle spasms, cancer, tonic water. Comes from the co ee tree (co ea arabica) originating from yemen, ethiopia. Comes from the willow plant; willow species; genus salix.
