Metacognition literally means cognition- or thinking about thinking. Procedural - knowledge of things we can do. Three skills used to regulate thinking and learning: Planning: how much time to give a task. Macro: planning on how and what to study. Evaluating: making judgements about processes and outcomes of thinking and learning. Individual differences in metacognition may result form different paces of development (maturation) or biological differences among learners.
