The anointing of the sick, also called holy oil, is the sacrament, administered by the priest, which confers a special grace on the christian afflicted with any serious illness or old age. Christian charity requires that not only the body but also the soul be taken into account. Whoever assists the sick is therefore obliged to act4 in such a way that those who are close to the moment that will decide their eternal salvation will not lack the consolations of the faith. The sacred order is the sacrament, administered by the bishop, which confers the three degrees of the hierarchical ministry of the church, that is, which consecrates the bishops, the priests and the deacons. It is absolutely necessary, by explicit will of its founder, that there be ordained ministers in the. Church, through whom the risen lord continues to work salvation among us.
