Christianity if the faith based on jesus christ"s: life, teachings, death, resurrection and ascension into heaven. Ot prophecies about messiah = born in bethlehem. Gospels = jesus birth, jesus 12 years, 30 years. Bible contains: old testament (ot) + apocrypha/deuterocanical books, new testament (nt) + 27 books, including 4 gospels ( good news , gospels were written 40-50 years after jesus died. Methods of bible interpretation: literal method, allegorical method, mystical method, moral method, historical critical method. Mathew (mt) = jewish-christian audience bc jesus is presented as the 2nd moses and messiah. Luke (lk) = gentile audience bc speaks in universal terms. Jesus = eternal son/logos of god, the incarnate god on earth. There are apocryphal gospels attributed to thomas, peter, mary madgalene, phillip and judas. (most come from gnostic circles) Matthew the evangelist = man = human nature of christ. Mark the evangelist = lion = christ as king. Luke the evangelist = bull/calf = christ as sacrifice/priest.
