Books of new testament & books about jesus were written in greek. Greek way of life wanted to be spread, which became hellenism. Certain reaction against hellenism in palestine where jews lived, than jews outside of palestine. In palestine, hellenism was rejected, especially because of 2nd century hellenistic ruler from syria was extremist placed greek god. Lead to a revolt, and rejection of hellenism. Jerusalem was important at the time, and even though there were people who celebrated hellenism. Philo of alexndria of egypt was impressed with hellenism, maybe bc he didn"t speak hebrew. Alexandria has to order translations of the hebrew bible into greek. Hellenistic jews to outside of palestine, were the ones that were embraced by early. Hellenism is the blend of greece and the orient that arose in the wake of alexander"s conquests and embraced all aspects of life.
