Document Summary
The first two years, (infancy) is a very important period in the development of the child. First of all, it is called social and emotional development. First of all, the ability to display emotion is innate (it"s natural). Our emotions are reflected on our facial expressions. At the infancy level, emotions are expressed non-verbally. You don"t express emotion unless you are experiencing it. Two types of emotions in infancy: stranger anxiety: is the caution and wryness, displayed by infants, when encountering an unfamiliar person. It appears the second half of the first year of infancy. The child is beginning to develop (cognitive development) which allows the child to differentiate the faces that are familiar, to the ones that aren"t. Infants show less resistance going to female strangers, and less resistant going to other children: separation anxiety: a type of distress is displayed, when a familiar person leaves. (crying etc. )
