Sex is a physiological need but not in the same way that other biological needs are: you won"t de if your need for sex is unfulfilled. Discovered that people engage in a wide variety of sexual behaviours despite sociocultural stigmas surrounding sex at the time. Created that gay scale thing called the kinsey scale. Desire and arousal form the first half of the cycle. The peak of the arousal cycle is orgasm and that is when the most pleasure is experienced. The ending is the resolution where bodily functions return to normal. Sexual arousal has a physiological component and a psychological component. There is a strong association between romantic/passionate love and sexual desire for both sexes. Sex hormones: androgens (testosterone); higher testosterone is equal to higher libido, estrogens are released right before ovulation which increases libido. How much of a role do hormones play in sexual behaviour: sexual desire mostly depends on individual differences.
