Job is initially meant to be lawmaking, however, increasingly congressmen seek electoral goals to ensure election. Rhetoric and ethics charges as political weapon. Ethic charges hard to distinguish what is the truth. Requirement of truth telling has become relative. Republicans as the main culprits to change this political landscape. Obstruction is its own form of governance. Polarization causes the stakes to rise with each election cycle. Voting districts becomes homogenous, party members delegate authority to leaders. It"s better to have an issue than a bill party brand development, not governance. Demographic shift loyalty to a party divides and reinforces uniformity. Wedge issue are issues that have cultural resonance (controversial topics) Not in an increase of tv program but rather an increase of fragmented audiences. Profitability of fox news fewer viewers but great impact. Stations serve as platforms for politicians extreme views. Harder to follow an objective news biased news. Voters inured to factual information as facts start to matter less.
