demanding times: great depression, new deal (federal government rose In power) the New Deal took
action to bring about immediate economic relief as well as reforms in industry,
agriculture, finance, waterpower, labor, and housing, vastly increasing the scope of the
ederal oernment’s atiities, Much of the New Deal legislation was enacted within the

JFK: fascinating figure, Kennedy can speak, speeches were elevated. Elected in 1960, he and Nixon
closed election. Kennedy was perceived as a Liberal from Massachusetts. Cold war, Cuban Missiles Crisis.
Youthful vigorous president. Assassinated in Texas. Bringing in power : LB Johnson his VP
