Document Summary

Lesson 7: features and formation of the solar. Pluto is classified as a dwarf planet. Pluto is classified as a dwarf planet since 2005. Shares many chracteristics with the planets of our solar system, it is distinctly smaller than any of the planets and other objects have been found just past pluto in the kepler belt that are similar in size to pluto. But it"s moons and round shape qualify it to be a dwarf planet: studying the solar system. It"s surface looks solid, it"s made up of hot hydrogen and helium gas: the planet closest to the sun is mercury, located 0. 39 au from sun, about 1/3 of the distance from the sun to earth. Mercury is the smallest of the eight major planets in our solar system. Resembles earth"s moon, has no atmosphere and it"s surface is marked by many impact craters: venus, located 0. 72 au from the sun.
