Imagine entire atmosphere was compressed down so that entire atmosphere had atmospheric pressure = standard sea level atmospheric pressure . Ozone is super thin in that atmosphere and measure how thick it is in mm. x 100 gives us the dobson units. Two processes are required for production of ozone. The oxygen undergoes photodissociation (splits the oxygen into 2 atoms). Atoms of oxygen are produced through absorption of uv. Second process is you have an atom of oxygen, a molecule of oxygen and any other gas that acts as catalyst that facilitates the reaction but is not changed by the reaction.
