Well because motivation is an important in organizations as they need to increase their productivity, to have global competitiveness, changes are rapid, and there is a need for flexibility and attention to customers. Motivation has an impact on each of those factors. Motivation: the extent to which persistent effort is directed toward a goal(s). Motivation has several characteristics: -effort (strength of the person"s work-related behaviour. Direction (extent to which workers" channel their persistent effort in a direction that benefits the organization). Goals (employee goals might include high productivity, good attendance, or creative decisions). There is to types of motivations that exists: -extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation: motivation that stems from the direct relationship between the worker and the task and is usually self-applied. Extrinsic motivation: motivation that stems from the work environment external to the task and is usually applied by others. (pay, bonuses ) This leads to self-determination theory: it considers whether people"s motivation is autonomous or controlled.
